Is a referral required for a member to see a behavioral health specialist?

No, a referral from your Primary Care Provider is not required. Please call IMHS at (800) 716-5650 for help finding a provider or to see if your provider participates with Superior HealthPlan.


Can my OB/GYN refer me to see a specialist or do I need to go back to my Primary Care Provider?

Yes, your OB/GYN can refer you to a specialist.


Does Superior HealthPlan cover sports physicals?


Starting March 1, 2011, Superior HealthPlan will cover Sports Physicals for Superior members enrolled in the RSA (Rural Service Area) Chip program.

  • One (1) per CHIP enrollment period.
  • Ages 4 -18.
