PROVIDER TRAUMA GUIDE: SUPPORT FOR SUPERIOR MEMBERS IN UVALDE

Date: 07/05/22

In Superior HealthPlan’s continued effort to support members, providers, and the Uvalde community, Superior has created a Trauma Resource Guide. This guide is a compilation of multiple resources from trusted behavioral health organizations around the country, designed to provide you with additional information on understanding traumatic events and guidance for responding to your patients experiencing trauma. Superior has established a free 24-hour crisis line, offered by Magellan, for individuals impacted by the Uvalde school shooting.

If you have Superior patients who are members and were affected by the tragic events in Uvalde in any way, Superior has services available to help them. As a reminder, Superior members also have the following resources available to them:

  • A toll-free number to access free, confidential consultation services is available to all Superior HealthPlan members and the local community by calling 1-800-327-7451.
    • Magellan confidential consultation services are offered at no charge to the community to assist individuals as they work to cope with the feelings of fear, sadness, anger, or hopelessness related to these kinds of incidents. Crisis line callers may also seek information and guidance to other available resources, such as community-based support.
  • Tip sheets with resources specific to trauma and steps towards recovery can be found on Magellan Health’s website here.
  • For additional support services, members can call Member Services at the number on the back of their ID card.
