Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ+) Resources
Date: 06/29/22
June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ+) History Month. People who identify as LGBTQ+ may face some challenges. They are often met with judgement when they decide to open up about their gender identity and seek help. They could also experience racism, sexism, cissexism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism and more. People who identify as LGBTQIA+ deserve to be accepted in their environment. They deserve to be free from judgement and stigmas.
Superior is committed to providing our LGBTQ+ members and their families with the resources and services they need for the best possible care. Some Superior resources available include:
- Find a Provider Tool: Members can find doctors who serve the LGBTQ+ population. Once you have chosen a doctor, you can look under “Populations Served” for “LGBTQ+”.
- LGBTQ+ Caseworker Flyer (PDF): Shares information about the safety packet and services offered to Superior STAR Kids and STAR Health members.
- LGBTQ+ Self-Referral Form: Form that allows members to contact Superior and let us know what you need and how we can help.Top of Form
- LGBTQ+ Services webpage: Has details on services and resources for Superior members.
- LGBTQ+ Resource Guide (PDF): Contains resources for youth in foster care across Texas.
Members of our Youth Transitioning to Adulthood Program can also help by providing educational information, sharing local resource guides that list LGBTQ+ support centers, and connecting you with other resources that can help LGBTQ+ youth stay safe.
If you/your child identifies as LGBTQ+, you can get connected with Superior LGBTQ+ services or resources. Call Member Services and ask to speak with a member of the Youth Transitioning to Adulthood Program. They are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
