Tips for Teeth Health in Adults

Date: 03/23/23

At Superior we know preventative dental care is important for both adults and children. Set an example for the kids in your life by taking care of your teeth. We’ve gathered a few ways to help you with your oral health.

  1. Brush your teeth after eating or drinking. You should brush for at least two minutes, twice a day. Ideally, you should brush after every meal.
  2. Use the right kind of toothbrush and toothpaste. It is best to use a soft-bristled toothbrush to clean your teeth. Using a hard-bristled toothbrush may lead to gum issues or can damage your teeth. The Mayo Clinic suggests that adults use fluoride toothpaste which can help prevent cavities and gum disease.
  3. Avoid problem foods. Sugary food and drinks, like soda and candy. But you should also avoid foods that are tough on your teeth and gums like popcorn and even corn on the cob!
  4. Floss your teeth. Flossing helps remove food particles between your teeth where your toothbrush cannot reach. You should floss at least once a day.

Although these tips are helpful, there is one that is most important – go to the dentist! Call Member Services to get help finding a provider.
