NOTICE: Beacon Laboratory Benefit Solutions Partnership

Superior HealthPlan has entered into a partnership with Beacon Laboratory Benefit Solutions for Superior Medicaid (STAR, STAR Health, STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS), CHIP, STAR+PLUS Medicare-Medicaid Plan (MMP), Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan and WellCare by Allwell (HMO and HMO DSNP) members. This new partnership will require providers to access to Beacon’s platform to request prior authorization for certain laboratory tests.

The platform will require providers to submit advanced notification when ordering lab tests. The advance notification currently covers over 400 different Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes for lab testing. The goal of introducing this new point-of-care decision support tool is to optimize member care by enabling providers to select tests using evidence-based guidelines.

Once available, additional details and an effective date for this new requirement will be sent to providers.
