What to Do If You Get a Medical Bill

Date: 02/06/26

You should not be billed for any services covered by Medicaid. Always show your Medicaid ID card and Superior HealthPlan member ID card when you are seeking services from a doctor, hospital, pharmacy or other Medicaid provider. If you have not received your Medicaid ID card, give the provider the 2085 Medicaid form to confirm your Medicaid coverage.

If you get a bill from a Medicaid provider, call Member Services on the back of your Superior member ID card. When you call, have the information below ready:

  • Member name
  • Date of service
  • Patient account number
  • Name of the provider
  • Phone number on the bill
  • Total amount of the bill

Remember: If you go to a provider who is not a part of Texas Medicaid or is not signed up as a Superior provider for non-urgent or non-emergency care without authorization from Superior, you may be billed for the services.

If you have other primary health insurance, please ensure you provide both your primary insurance and your Superior Medicaid coverage to all your providers. The provider should submit bills to your primary group insurance first, then Superior Medicaid. If you follow the rules of your primary insurance and Superior Medicaid, you should not be responsible for paying any portion of your provider bills for a Medicaid covered service.
