Staying Safe in Winter Weather

Date: 01/22/24

Texas has seen some severe winter weather over the last few years. Superior wants to help you be prepared and take safety measures to stay warm in the event of extreme winter weather.

Severe winter weather can bring snow, ice and high winds. In some cases, you can lose power to your home or are unable to travel safely on roads. Here are a few tips to keep you prepared in the event of any bad weather conditions this winter:

1. Pay attention to any weather updates from your local government and the National Weather Service.

2. Gather emergency supplies. Water bottles, blankets and flashlights are a necessity in case you lose power.

3. Dress warmly. If you must leave the house, make sure to wear a coat and hat to stay warm.

4. Avoid travel if the roads are icy. If you do travel, bring emergency supplies with you.

5. Drip your faucets. Letting your sink drip a small amount of water can help prevent the pipes in your home from freezing or bursting due to cold temperatures.

Have your prescriptions or any needed medical equipment on hand. If you need assistance getting your supplies or prescriptions, call Member Services using Superior’s phone directory.
