Important: MMP Providers in Bexar County

Superior HealthPlan would like to notify providers that Superior HealthPlan STAR+PLUS Medicare-Medicaid (MMP) will no longer be participating in the MMP program in Bexar county as of December 31, 2024.
After this date, Superior will no longer provide Medicaid coverage through MMP in Bexar county.
Superior mailed a letter to members in Bexar county who are currently enrolled in Superior’s MMP plan to notify them of this change. You may begin to receive questions from your patients regarding next steps. Please refer members with questions about this change to the resources below:
- For information on which MMPs are in their area, or to enroll in another MMP in Texas, members can call the State enrollment broker at 1-877-782-6440.
- For questions about STAR+PLUS Medicaid, members can contact Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) at 1-877-782-6440.
- For information on Medicare plans in their area, please refer members to 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
As a reminder, this change is due to the STAR+PLUS contract changes, effective September 1, 2024, and does not affect Superior STAR, STAR Health, STAR Kids, and Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP) members in Bexar county. Superior would like to emphasize that the STAR+PLUS change will not impact the following Medicaid plans: STAR, STAR Health, STAR Kids, and CHIP.
Important things to note:
- Providers may not influence Medicaid clients based on reimbursement rates or methodology used by a particular plan. Superior highly encourages providers to review section 2.2.6: Educating Clients about Managed Care of the Texas Medicaid Provider Procedure Manual (PDF).
- Providers must comply with their applicable licensing agency laws and regulations, including any related to marketing and advertising, and any applicable state and federal laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and other guidance documents.
