Date: 10/30/23

There is a new medicine called Beyfortus™ that can help prevent respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections in infants. RSV is a common virus that can cause lung infections and breathing problems in babies.

  • Beyfortus™ is a single shot given to infants before their first RSV season.
  • It helps their immune system fight the virus and reduce their risk of getting sick.
  • Beyfortus™ can be given to babies from birth up to 8 months old.The shot is recommended for all infants to help keep them healthy their first RSV season.
  • It is especially important for babies at higher risk for severe RSV infections, like those born prematurely or with certain health conditions.

Talk to your baby's doctor about the best time to get the Beyfortus™ shot. If your child qualifies for the Texas Vaccines for Children program, the shot is covered at no cost to you. Keeping your baby up to date on vaccinations and preventive shots like Beyfortus™ is important to help them stay healthy.

If you have any questions about Beyfortus™ or your child’s vaccinations talk to your pediatrician or call Member Services by visiting Superior’s Phone Directory webpage.
