MMP Transition to Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan Integrated Dual Special Needs Plan

Superior HealthPlan’s new integrated plan, Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan, began providing coverage for dual-eligible members on January 1, 2026. 1. What does it mean to be an integrated Dual Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) plan?
As an integrated plan:
- Members in this plan must have both their Medicare and Medicaid benefits with the same managed care organization.
- Members will have one integrated ID card. Providers can check eligibility and benefits using the single ID.
- Providers will receive one combined explanation of payment, showing both Medicare and Medicaid information together.
2. Will prior authorizations from the member’s previous STAR+PLUS Medicare-Medicaid Plan (MMP) carry over after December 31?
Prior authorizations issued under the MMP (prior to January 1) for dates of service ending on or after January 1, will transfer with the member’s eligibility to the new plan. These authorizations will be honored and do not need to be resubmitted. The authorization number will remain the same.
3. Do providers need to re-register for access to Superior’s secure provider portal or Availity?
- Providers with a secure portal account do not need to take any additional action to access this plan on January 1. For new providers or those registered in the secure portal, additional registration may be required. Register via the login information on our Secure Portal Login webpage.
- Existing Availity users do not need to take any action for access to the new payer space supporting Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan.
4. Do I need to take any action in Payspan to receive payments for this new plan?
Yes. Providers using PaySpan will need to add the duals line of business to continue receiving electronic payments. Paper checks will be issued if the duals line of business is not added. Call Payspan at 1-877-331-7154 for a registration code.
