On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions. NEW: Ambetter Value and Virtual Plans

Effective January 1, 2022, Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan will launch its new Ambetter Value and Ambetter Virtual Access plans.

 Overview of Our Networks

Ambetter has long offered a robust network of providers to our members in Texas through our Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) network. In 2022, we are adding innovative products on two separate Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) networks that offer members more coverage options to fit their needs and budget. The new networks also offer participating providers exclusive access to a population of potential patients seeking quality-focused care. See an overview of the plans below:

  • Ambetter Essential/Balanced/Secure: The Ambetter core network – our broadest network of healthcare providers and hospitals. These plans are available in 145 counties across Texas.
  • NEW! Ambetter Value: This selective network of healthcare providers and hospitals supports Ambetter’s lowest-premium product. Ambetter Value is available within specific counties in Texas, including the metro areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
  • NEW! Ambetter Virtual Access: This network offers licensed virtual Primary Care Providers (PCPs) for members 18 years of age and older. In addition, all members can access our broad HMO network of providers and hospitals for additional healthcare needs.

Referrals

The new Ambetter Value and Ambetter Virtual Access networks feature a PCP-centric approach to care delivery. PCPs coordinate our members’ medical care, as appropriate, either by providing treatment or by issuing referrals to other in-network providers. For services to be covered, they must be provided by or referred by a PCP. Emergency or urgent care services, in-network mental or behavioral health services and obstetrical or gynecological services are excluded from this requirement.

Our Ambetter Essential/Balanced/Secure network has no referral requirement.
