SAN ANTONIO, Texas (May 3, 2021) – Texas Diaper Bank has received funding to help launch two programs for mothers and children in the Greater San Antonio area. The funding comes from Superior HealthPlan, a managed care organization that provides healthcare to more than 1.6 million people across the state.
Texas Diaper Bank CEO Jorge Medina remarks, “We are incredibly grateful for our continued partnership with Superior HealthPlan. Together, we are providing much-needed healthcare items to families in crisis.”
Grant funding will be used to support two new initiatives. First, funding will be used to distribute 600 New Mommy Bags, which include a night gown, meal set, cup set, diapers, and wipes. Second, funding will support Texas Diaper Bank in providing 1,200 kits to parents/caregivers that include 3-4 children books and a literacy guide.
In 2020, the Texas Diaper Bank distributed 2.25 million diapers, 213,000 incontinence products, and 832,000 period supplies to more than 75,000 individuals in Bexar County and the surrounding counties. Superior HealthPlan has provided financial support each year to Texas Diaper Bank since 2017.
“For more than 20 years, Superior has partnered with local organizations across Texas to support those in need,” said Mark Sanders, President and CEO of Superior HealthPlan. “We’re especially proud to sponsor Texas Diaper Bank for these two new initiatives, which will have a profound impact on the lives of San Antonio area families.
