How to Choose a Primary Care Provider
Date: 04/09/26
Your primary care provider (PCP) is your main doctor for everyday care. You can see your PCP for checkups and well-visits, help manage ongoing health conditions, and for care when you’re sick. Because you may see your PCP often, it’s important to choose one who fits your needs.
A good place to start is by asking friends or family if they have a PCP that they like and trust. But there are other steps you can take to make sure a provider is right for you:
- Make sure the provider is in network with Superior HealthPlan.
- You can search in-network PCPs near you using our Find a Provider Tool.
- Call the PCP’s office to make sure they are taking new patients.
- Ask questions to make sure this provider fits your needs. You may want to know:
- Is the location of their office close to my home?
- Who will I see if my PCP is unavailable?
- Are there weekend hours or after-hours services available?
- Do I need to make an appointment ahead of time?
- If I speak another language, is this PCP or someone in the office able to speak my language?
You deserve care that feels right for you. Take the time to choose the right PCP to benefit your long-term care.
