Effective 10/1/26: Preferred Provider Arrangement for Incontinence Supplies

Superior HealthPlan is implementing a Preferred Provider Arrangement (PPA) for the provision of incontinence supplies for Superior-enrolled Medicaid (STAR, STAR Kids, STAR+PLUS, STAR Health) and Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan (Dual Align) members for dates of service on or after October 1, 2026. Superior has received approval from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to proceed with this arrangement. Beginning October 1, 2026, medically necessary incontinence supplies for affected members will be provided through Tenderheart Health Outcomes (Tenderheart), unless the member chooses to remain with a current network provider or selects another provider.

Please note: Superior's STAR Health Service Coordinators will work directly with STAR Health members and their medical consenters to manage their choice of provider for incontinence supplies. STAR Health members do not need to opt-out in order to keep their current network provider.

Member Notice and Provider Choice

Members currently receiving incontinence supplies will receive a notice regarding the PPA with Tenderheart. The notice explains that members must contact Superior if they prefer to remain with their current network provider or choose a different provider instead of transitioning to Tenderheart for incontinence supplies. Members may change providers at any time, consistent with their right to provider choice. To avoid automatic transition to Tenderheart on October 1, 2026, Superior members who do not wish to transition must opt out of the PPA by contacting Superior no later than August 1, 2026. To request to opt out of the PPA, members should contact Superior’s Preferred Provider Hotline at 1-833-703-8334.

Scope of the Arrangement

This arrangement applies only to incontinence supplies. Members who receive other Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or medical supplies from a network provider are not affected by this PPA and will remain with their existing network provider or provider of choice for those items and supplies.
