Directed Payment Program Claims Reimbursement Update

Date: 08/31/26

Superior HealthPlan remains committed to administering Directed Payment Program (DPP) reimbursements in accordance with guidance provided by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC).

Currently, Superior has not received approval or funding authorization for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2027 claims-based DPP payments. As a result, effective September 1, 2026, the following reimbursement approach will be implemented for applicable claims-based DPPs:

  • CHIRP payments will be suspended beginning September 1, 2026, pending additional funding guidance from HHSC.
  • All other applicable claims-based DPPs will continue to be reimbursed using SFY 2026 reimbursement rates on an interim basis until further guidance from HHSC is received.

Upon receipt of updated guidance from HHSC, Superior will reconcile payments as needed. This reconciliation may result in either additional payments to providers or recoupment of overpayments, as applicable.

Superior will continue to monitor HHSC communications and provide updates as additional information becomes available.
