Medicaid Providers: Ending the Dual Demonstration and a New Enrollment Option for Dual Eligible Members
Date: 11/05/25
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is inviting providers to attend an upcoming webinar to learn about aligning enrollments between an Integrated Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) and a STAR+PLUS plan for members who receive Medicare and Medicaid services.
Effective January 1, 2026, HHSC is ending Dual Demonstration Medicare-Medicaid Plans (MMPs) in Dallas and Hidalgo counties and implementing a new enrollment process to align Medicaid (STAR+PLUS) enrollment with the member’s Integrated D-SNP enrollment.
This transition means:
- Providers in these counties may need new contracts with Wellcare By Superior HealthPlan.
- Members in these counties will be able to select a health plan that provides integrated Medicare and Medicaid (STAR+PLUS) services in a different way.
This information will be helpful to providers in communicating with dual eligible members and engaging with Wellcare by Superior HealthPlan – our Integrated D-SNP.
