Stay Healthy This Holiday Season: Prevent Respiratory Illness
Date: 12/15/25
Respiratory illnesses like the flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are on the rise during the holiday season. Protect yourself and your loved ones by taking steps to avoid the spread of illness and talking to your doctor about vaccines.
Practicing good hygiene is a good start to prevent illness:
- Wash your hands often. You may think this is obvious, but here are some steps on how to properly wash your hands.
- Cover your coughs or sneezes with your elbow, not your hands.
- Throw any used tissues away.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces like countertops and doorknobs regularly.
Another way to prevent getting and the spread of respiratory illnesses is by getting vaccinated against flu and RSV. It is not too late to vaccinate this holiday season - talk to your doctor about which vaccines you may need.
