On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions. Important News for Superior STAR+PLUS Members

Effective September 1, 2024, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will implement a new contract for STAR+PLUS. As a part of this new contract, Superior will provide STAR+PLUS Medicaid coverage in the following Service Delivery Areas (SDAs), also known as regions:

  • Central Medicaid Rural Service Area*
  • Dallas*
  • Hidalgo*
  • Lubbock*
  • Nueces* Travis**
  • West Medicaid Rural Service Area*

On September 1, 2024, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will start a new contract for STAR+PLUS. As a part of this new contract, Superior will continue to provide STAR+PLUS Medicaid coverage in your area.

You do not need to take any action to remain a Superior HealthPlan member. You can continue receiving your STAR+PLUS Medicaid coverage from Superior.

You may have received a letter from HHSC. The letter let you know that you do not need to take any action to remain a Superior HealthPlan member.

On September 1, 2024, HHSC will start a new contract for STAR+PLUS.

As part of this new contract, Superior will no longer provide STAR+PLUS Medicaid coverage to members in the Bexar SDA. This includes the following counties:

  • Atascosa
  • Guadalupe
  • Bandera
  • Kendall
  • Bexar
  • Medina
  • Comal
  • Wilson

Superior will continue to serve STAR+PLUS members in the Bexar SDA through August 31, 2024.

You can continue to receive your health coverage from Superior and the doctors you know and trust through August 31, 2024.

  • ·You must pick a new health plan by July 10 if you remain eligible for STAR+PLUS Medicaid.
  • If you do not pick a new health plan by July 10, HHSC will select a plan for you.
  • Your new plan will start on September 1, 2024.
  • Look for a packet of information from HHSC on how to select a new health plan.

There is nothing you need to do to remain a Superior STAR+PLUS member.

Superior will provide STAR+PLUS coverage to members who live in the Travis SDA, which includes the following counties, starting 9/1/2024:

Bastrop, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Travis, Williamson

You can choose Superior between March 1 and July 10 for coverage starting September 1, 2024.

You can choose Superior in one of three ways:

  • Online at YourTexasBenefits.com
  • Or call 1-800-964-2777. The call is free.
    • After you choose your language, select “2” for Medicaid, then “6” for STAR+PLUS, then “3” to talk to an agent. They can help you choose your health plan.
  • You can also fill out the enrollment form by mail. Use the enrollment form HHSC sent to you.
